Free The Flat — Cookie Policy

Last updated: 21 May 2026 | Websites: https://freetheflat.co.uk and https://app.freetheflat.co.uk

This Cookie Policy explains how Free The Flat uses cookies and similar technologies across our marketing website and our product. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help websites work properly, remember preferences, understand how visitors use the site, and, where consent is given, support advertising and measurement.

2. Our two surfaces

Free The Flat has two distinct surfaces with different consent models, reflecting how each is used:

Marketing website (freetheflat.co.uk): A public-facing site where you can learn about our service. We show a cookie banner here, and analytics and advertising cookies only run with your consent.

Product (app.freetheflat.co.uk): A logged-in product accessed by users who have signed up and agreed to our Terms of Service. Analytics cookies are enabled by default as part of providing and improving the service. By signing up and accepting our Terms, users agree to this analytics processing as a necessary part of using the product. No advertising cookies run on the product surface.

3. How we use cookies

We use cookies to operate our websites, keep them secure, remember your cookie choices, understand usage, and measure advertising activity where consent has been given.

5. Analytics cookies

Analytics cookies help us understand how people use our marketing site and product. We use Google Analytics 4 (via Google Tag Manager) to collect this data.

On the marketing site, analytics cookies are only used where consent has been given via the cookie banner. We track the following events:

  • get_started_click, sign_up_click, log_in_click, test_it_today_click, get_a_head_start_click — clicks on key buttons
  • product_selected (with product_name and source) — clicks on product cards in the “What's available today” modal or footer
  • pillar_expanded (with pillar_name) — expansion of value pillar sub-cards on the homepage
  • step_product_expanded (with step_product_name) — expansion of product cards under our “How it works” steps
  • pathway_question_answered (with answer) — answers on the Pathway Finder page

On the product, analytics cookies run by default as part of the service. We track:

  • sign_up_submitted — when a user successfully creates an account
  • Standard pageviews and session data

6. Advertisement cookies

Advertisement cookies help us measure and attribute advertising activity. We use Meta Pixel (via Google Tag Manager) on our marketing site and product.

On the marketing site, Meta Pixel is only allowed to fire where advertisement consent has been given via the cookie banner. We measure the following events:

  • PageView — page views on the marketing site
  • sign_up_click, get_started_click, test_it_today_click, get_a_head_start_click — clicks on key buttons

On the product, Meta Pixel fires by default to record completed sign-ups via the standard CompleteRegistration event, allowing us to measure advertising performance against our primary conversion. No other advertising cookies run on the product surface.

7. Managing your cookie choices

On the marketing site, you can manage cookie choices at any time using the CookieYes preference centre. You can accept all, reject all non-essential, allow analytics only, allow advertising only, or update your consent at any time.

If you choose “Reject All”, non-essential analytics and advertisement cookies will be blocked. If you choose “Analytics ON and Advertisement OFF”, analytics cookies will run, but Meta Pixel will remain blocked.

On the product, analytics processing is part of the service under our Terms. If you wish to object to this processing, contact us using the details in section 9.
